Perversemonger - cool title - sure screams "grind" with 16 songs clocking in at a little over 33 minutes. This album is yet another Death/Grind hybrid, albeit tipping the scale a little on the grind side. There's still enough Death Metal overtones to make this sound pretty good overall, although I found the album rather one-dimensional, lacking some variety - but at least there's a little of it. This speedfest is occasionally interrupted - I should say slowed down - by some catchy, headbangable guitar riffs with matching drumming that give this release a little character. The vocals are very guttural growls, not quite of the "puking my breakfast" variety, but coming pretty close at times. Incidentally, said vocals are quite undecipherable, which is a shame, as I'd be curious to hear what they have to say on some of those songs, after taking a look at that colourful track listing. ;) Check it out if Death/Grind is your thing. |
