Apparently all the albums this band did before this one sucked royally. I don't know, I never heard them, but the reviews were bad. This is the band that forced the more famous DragonForce to change from their original moniker, which was their only claim to fame until this album. Vengeance In Black is a mega-crunchy workout of Accept/Grave Digger-styled metal slayage. The riffs stomp and chug, the leads are killer, and the vocals are a Chris Boltendahl-style rough holler. The vocals do not really add anything, as most of the melodies are very basic, but they have enough punch to keep up with the killer guitars. There may not be any real classic songs on here, but there are plenty of really good ones. Anybody who loved Running Wild's early albums will surely get off on this. It's not perfect, but it's a highly entertaining album that will keep your fist in the fucking air. |
