Heavy METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!! What else can you expect from Udo Dirkschneider? Holy is the latest album from Accept's original vocalist... ok that was a long, long time ago :). This is a pure heavy metal album, a great album in fact, with a few notable exceptions. What prevents me from actually listening to this album many times in a row is the last song, Cut Me Out. Yeah, I wish they had done just that. It's not that it's a bad song, but it feels to me like it just doesn't fit with the rest of the album. It sort of breaks the mood of the album. The album subtitle is Metal Is Our Religion (you bet! :)), and that's what most of the album is about, without going into somewhat childish lyrics that some bands use in songs about metal. If I had to choose my favorite songs, I would pick Holy, Recall The Sin and State Run Operation. I find those three really stand out above the rest. Holy is the kind of metal album we don't see much anymore. It is just heavy metal, not speed, not power, not <insert sub-genre here>. I wish there were a few more of those, but hey, as long as Udo keeps on going, we'll get some more of that good stuff! |
