I never heard this band before, and despite how terrible the description sounded, this isn't that bad. Farmakon have a silly-sounding name, and they have silly song titles, but as a groove-oriented Death Metal band, they are not intolerable. I read that they include funk in their music, but this mostly evidences itself in the solos, which have a jazzy flair to them, and are pretty good actually. The rest of the music is dull and focused on groove almost to the exclusion of riffs. The riffs they do have are not really metallic riffs, being more akin to fusion bands like Fishbone or 24-7 Spyz. The vocals are undistinguished deathgrunts which add nothing to the sound, and the whole package is like an album by a band who do not really want to be a metal band. Lame. |
