Been a while since I got a home-burned CDR promo. Anyway, It Will Come is a Swedish Doom band that gets points for trying to do something that doesn't sound just like the other 500 Swedish Doom bands, but loses most of them in the execution. Bassist/Vocalist Louise Halldin has a strong, emotive voice, and it immediately sets the band apart. Too bad the riffs are so bland. The first song is okay, but on the second one she starts in with this gospel-themed vocal melody that I can't even listen to. The music pretty much just exists as an excuse for the vocals, which are good, but not metal at all. The vocal melodies are very R&B influenced, and it doesn't sound very Doom. Mostly this sounds like a more depressed Evanescence, only without any good songs. I would recommend Louise give up trying to be metal and just go with the more commercial sound she is obviously comfortable with. Today's forecast: undistinguished to unlistenable. |
