Debut for this Italian band who engage in gleeful and shameless Painkiller worship to the point that even the guitar tone sounds identical. The fact that this is not quite as good as that hallowed album in no way diminishes the fun. "Race Of Steel", "Dragon Battalion" and the stomping "Princess of Babylon" are just great metal by any measure. And even if some cuts like "Gloria Perpetua" are not so awesome, the whole album is cool enough to forgive minor failings. The vocals are solid, if nowhere near amazing, with minimal accent activity. I won't call this 'The album Priest should have made after Painkiller', but I will say this is more fun than anything they have done since. Worthy. |
