This German-American band was founded by singer/ guitar player known by the name of "The Juggernaut", in 2000. They went through numerous changes, due to constant criticism from the press as well as political and religious movements. The reason for this being apparently their outrageous stage show and lyrics. I guess those people harassing them are probably direct descendant of the ones who used to burn Elvis' records, proclaiming he was the devil! Anyways, Digital Violence consists of fourteen tracks, for a little over an hour in playing time. Gothic Metal with some explicit lyrics it is what you'll hear on this disc. Heavy/down-tuned guitars, rasps (a bit strange, but still fitting well), moderate and tight rhythmic section, keyboards, clean vocals, and catchy melodies, is their usual sound and pattern. I don't believe the content of this album will offend or scare any metal fans, but maybe some catholic girls would blush on a song like "Bitch Like You"! My personal favorite composition here would be "Du Mein Gott", one of the two songs with German lyrics. It has a somewhat thrashier approach, and it suits the music well, even if I'm no Thrash Metal fan. Some of you might be turned off by the bouncy keys and beats found in a couple of places, but at least it's not their usual pace. More commonly, something more heavy and kicking is taking place, with dual vocals. As such, Digital Violence is not too bad, just not varied or wicked/Satanic enough for my own taste! |
