Review

Seventh album from Metal Blade's most consistent band, and all anybody wants to know is: is this one as good as With Oden On Our Side? Well, no, not really, but it is still a solid album. Twilight Of The Thunder God features the best cover art the band has ever had, but otherwise features nothing AA fans have not heard before.

As usual on an Amon Amarth album, there are some solid tunes, and some others that are just not as memorable, though they are not bad. Standouts this time include the title cut, the vicious "Guardians of Asgaard", "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags", and the epic closer "Embrace of the Endless Ocean". Again, AA manage to mix their more epic old sound with the pugilistic approach of later albums, and even when this is not awesome, it is listenable. That said, there is no song here to match "Asator", or "Runes To My Memory". Amon Amarth have put out an album that is as solid as we expected, if not brilliant. If you love this band, then you will love this, just don't expect anything you haven't heard from them before.
