Pretty good zine here, with glossy color cover and black and white newsprint paper - and the ink unfortunately has a tendency to hmmm... follow you around. Eclipse covers pretty much the same bands as magazines such as BW&BK, that is whatever band is "in" (is there really such a thing in metal?) at the moment - for example, interviews in this issue include Gehenna, Zyklon, Opeth, Nevermore, Children of Bodom, Soilwork, God Dethroned, My Dying Bride, Amorphis and Shadows Fall. It goes without saying that I pick up this zine for the overall quality rather than to learn about new underground bands. The interviews are of average length and in this issue I'd say the one with Gehenna is the most informative. Lots of album and demo reviews in here, and they are probably amongst the longest in the business - most reviews are about at least twice as long as the average review. Whether this is a good thing or not is really up to the reader! Overall this is a good zine although I'd like it to cover lesser known bands a bit more. Nevertheless, it's a very good read - just wash your hands afterwards! ;) You pay only for postage and my experience so far has been that they'll put as many copies as they can up to the postage amount. |
