Oh yeah baby, that's the stuff.  I'm sure by now Byfrost are tired of hearing comparisons to Immortal, but anyone who has heard later Immortal (At the Heart of Winter and later) is bound to think of that upon first hearing Byfrostmetal.  Some raging Black/Thrash on this EP - harsh, rasps meets thrashy vocals, catchy razor-sharp guitar work, heavy pounding drums form the backbone of this band's music.  While some may be tempted to say that this is "copycatting" Immortal, I'd say it's only half way there, but Byfrost put their own touch in here.  The vocals for instance are closer to the the harsh rasps used in most "extreme Thrash" than they are to Black Metal.  This is also a bit slower overall, more melodic yet also more raw to some extent with a good dose of rage and savagery that literally throws the listener into a headbanging and air guitaring frenzy (ask my boss... D'OH!)  A subtle Black 'n' Roll vibe is also present, as if this wasn't catchy enough already.  Nothing revolutionary, nothing aficionados of the genre haven't heard before, but damn well executed and fucking entertaining.  This is just my kind of stuff, and the only thing that sucks here is that it's not a full-length.  Fans of later Immortal are quasi guaranteed to get a serious kick out of this bad boy.
