Hot damn, as I sit here eating a pepperoni cheese stick listening to this album for the umpteenth time I can’t help but mutter to myself "This fucking shreds!!". Having bought their first album on a whim, I decided to do the same when I saw this album at my local HMV the other day and oh boy am I fucking glad I did. Playing a dark aggressive styled Thrash these guys are like their name implies; a grinder, churning out riff after riff of pure thrashy goodness. They're a little on the heavier side and have rather thick sound which compliments their style very well. They do throw in a few other elements and while most are good some don't fit to well.
These other elements are some hardcore styled riffing in some sections, the occasional punk vibe and rhythm patterns, and to some extent some more Black Metal-styled tremolo picking sections in some songs. While all these elements are incorporated well and don't overwhelm the overall backbone of solid Thrash, the hardcore elements do tend to sometimes break the pace of the music. As I continue to eat my pepperoni stick though I notice the album has repeated itself and I hear the killer opening riff of the first track once again, and it blows my mind and makes me headbang like mad.
And that has to be the best sign of a good album, the fact that I can get lost in it and just headbang along as it shreds my face not caring how much time has passed, but just enjoying the killer music. Overall this album is just some killer old school thrash, with some nice little surprises thrown in. Also worth noting is that if you listen to this album, make sure you go the whole way as the last four songs are the best on the album and completely fucking slay. Now on to my second pepperoni stick and a quick tap of the replay button and I'm good to go.
