This demo from Welsh act Hunted is like a breath of fresh air; in a country full of god-awful bands there's finally a glimmer of hope. My initial impression upon listening to the three tracks offered here is that these guys need a label and some money behind them. The production here does their tracks no favors, but as is always the case with demos, you need to look behind that and see what the band have to show. The actual material is actually pretty damn sweet, with some inventive guitar work and some very nice riffs. Their drummer is worth a mention with some smashing stick-skills. "Impaled" is a pretty fun opener, these guys remind me a fair bit of Outworld, albeit a less flashy version. Vocalist Chris G. is awesome - nice powerful voice sounding somewhere between Matt Barlow and Kelly "Sundown" Carpenter. "Shadows" and "The Silence of Mind" are both six plus minutes in length, giving a good feel for the band and their style of songwriting. I'd be very interested in hearing a full-length from these guys. All in all some good material with a few very interesting parts weaved between, sadly let down a little by production problems. Definitely worth a look. |
