Uh? Motörhead are still around? (I hear that a lot.) Yes they are. "Hammered" is their... hmmmm... trying to count... er... Never mind, latest release by the band. ;) Upon hearing this album, one may be tempted to say that the band has mellowed out, but having seen them live just a few days ago, still playing the old classics with energy, it's definitely not the case. Still this album rocks a little less than their previous albums, but still contain some very good fast rocking tracks in the typical Motörhead fashion such as "Brave New World", "Mine All Mine" and "Red Raw", just to name a few. But no matter what, all tracks here definitely sound like Motörhead, and the songs that I didn't like at first quickly grew on to me. The song "No Remorse" is a bit surprising at first because Lemmy uses deeper vocals that usual. Only the last track, "Serial Killer" at less than two minutes in length sounds a bit out of place, pretty much just narration with some background sounds here and there. I'm not sure what was the point of having it on the album but what the heck. :)

While this album is not up to par with the band's classic material, it is still a good addition to their discography and well worth getting. I was going to give this album a slightly lower rating but considering that from beginning to end I was either headbanging, tapping my foot or throwing my office neighbour through a wall, I realized the album doesn't lack in attitude. :) One thing you can always be assured of with Motörhead is that you know the band sticks to its guns and if you've liked their previous stuff, you'll find something you like on newer offerings as well. Let's hope the guys will still be around for a while. Recommended.
