Album number three from Brazilian Death Metallers NervoChaos isn't the most enjoyable of affairs. Don't get me wrong this isn't terrible or by any means bad – there is just nothing which brings me in for repeated listens. The pieces of the puzzle are all in place, some thrashy riffage, blistering guitar solos, and a possessed madman hiding behind the drum kit, and vocals raging from a titanic roar to a more guttural throaty sound. Sadly when that said puzzle is put together, the big picture just isn't as impressive as the pieces were. Quarrel In Hell is not without good points however. Some of the more Thrash-like riffs are awesome and remind me a lot of earlier Death Metal bands – leading nicely into another good part – NervoChaos have a nice vintage sound, helped via the production harking back to the early 90's.

Unfortunately the actual material on offer just isn't anything special, normally going straight over my head throughout every listen. If instantly forgettable is your thing, then by all means buy this album. Hopefully the next time around NervoChaos can bring some more memorable songwriting to the table because the talent is there, and there are snippets scattered throughout Quarrel In Hell which lead me to believe that these guys could be pretty good. In a genre that isn't short of great acts, NervoChaos will really have to step up their game in order to gain recognition; otherwise they could be destined to being on of those third rate Death Metal bands for the rest of their career. Tracks such as "Cursed Soul" and "Scavengers of the Underworld" get the blood pumping, and are without a shadow of a doubt the finer tracks on offer. Ultimately Quarrel In Hell is an album best approached with caution.
