DBC (Dead Brain Cells) is a Canadian thrash band that was active in the late 80s where they released two albums. "Unreleased" is a collection of 6 demo songs that were recently remastered. The music... Think a well-balanced mix of early Slayer and early Metallica and you have a good idea of what to expect here. The band adds its own twist to the influences, so you can't just say they're exactly like band x or y. "Unreleased" is good 80s Thrash from beginning to end, with the guitars and vocals sometimes sounding very Slayer-ish. The vocals are pretty good overall although at times they sound a bit more like they are just spoken and the result is not as good. Musically however, there isn't much to complain about, just straight in-your-face speedy thrash! ;) The band's two albums are supposedly hard to find so "Unreleased" may be your best chance to hear material from this cult band. If you're into Thrash at all you should give this one a try. Recommended. |
