Deceiver is a Swedish Thrash Metal band and this is their third album in four years: Thrashing Heavy Metal; I could not have come up with a better describing title. Indeed, what this band has done here is defined very well what good Thrash sounds like. While this record won't blow you with speed, it makes up for it with a ton of menacing riffs, explosive leads, tight drumming and rough but intelligible vocals. Packed with short, headbanging songs this is a heavy Thrash record performed by musicians of very good caliber. There are some negative points though: the main one being that the album is too short as it is barely under thirty five minutes. Also there isn't a whole lot of variety, making the songs difficult to stand out from each other. The album is nothing special or essential but is a highly enjoyable record by a band that knows what they are doing. |
