I tried to like this, I really did, but it is just a relentlessly boring album. Darktrance is really just one guy playing Black metal so generic it is hard to really categorize. The guitar sound is weak, and the riffs are a mix of blurry tremolo and a chunkier, almost groov-ish approach. He tries to inject some interest with some slower passages using acoustic guitarwork and some electronic sounds, but this only helps in spots. Vocals are a very generic rasp that does not rise above the rest of the proceedings. After several listens I just find it very hard to pay attention to this album, as it is just kind of there. Nothing makes you want to turn it off, but there is nothing awesome about it either. Faceless. |
