Album number three from ex-Savatage axe-slinger Chris Caffery. House of Insanity is surely an interesting affair, whilst being coined as Prog/Power, I would be to differ. This certainly bears similarities to Savatage although there's certainly more of a hard rock feel here. I'm not one to normally comment on lyrical content but there's some weird stuff going on here. Take "Solitaire" for example which is about solitaire, and of course we have the ridiculously gay "Madonna" – let's just hope this is about another female coincidentally named Madonna (apologies if his wife or partner bears the same name). Fortunately there's some tasty riffage on offer supported with a nice guitar tone and Caffery's vocals are strangely charming. However, clocking over an hour's worth of material, of which more than 50% is filler makes this album something I could only recommend to fans of Chris Caffery or curious guitarists. Tracks such as "Seasons Change" and the title track are ass-kickers I'd recommend checking out and adding to playlists. Not my foray although I'm sure fans of the guy will find something interesting here. |
