Even though Hat does not mean what we know a hat is, but actually Hate in Norwegian, I think it might be a good idea for this Black Metal act to consider another moniker. As for their style of music, well this is relatively easy to listen to due to the melodiousness of their sound. On the other hand, The Demise of Mankind is a somewhat overdone genre, which gives their musical direction a certain generic edge. Nothing bad as such on this disc, which remains simply interesting enough to avoid becoming boring and redundant. The sound production is good and the strong bass /punchy drums duo add power to the coldly distorted guitar work and sick rasps. The vocals have a tendency to be forced, as well as bearing a bit of wickedness at times. Melodious arpeggios, leads (sometimes clean); all add hues of harmony in the song structure. This is especially true "Shadenfreude", which wanders off into a different path with great result, mind you. A few of those crunchy/ mid paces are also thrown in here and there. "Hatet Av Alle" is the song to look for some good old doomy parts.

The Demise of Mankind does contain some Norwegian vibe, but it tends to be on the generic side too. This is not really a mandatory addition to your CD collection.
