According to Metal-Archives, Wolfen is a German Power/Thrash band and this is their fourth album Humanity... Sold Out!!! I've never heard anything from them and this is my first experience with the band. To me they sound like a solid Heavy Metal band so don't expect them to sound like Kreator or Sodom. Instead think of Iced Earth combined with a little Overkill or Nevermore to a certain extent. First, the good: the album has a lot of stuff packed in; the disc has twelve songs lasting more than an hour. The guitar playing is well executed, the riffs might be recycled and the solos could have been better but you won't hear any sloppiness. The rest of the band can do the job as well, they will not amaze you with their technical ability but they don't distract you (except for the singer) so that's good by me.

However, the worst aspect about this album is their songwriting which is all over the place. It is repetitive most of the time, it seems like the band didn't know where to go – surprising considering the experience that they have. Normally there would have been a song that stands out from all the others but in this case it doesn't happen, instead most songs here are too long for their own good. I truly feel that if they were able to cut some of them by a minute or so it would have helped the album tremendously. That doesn't mean that there aren't good songs, "White Noise" and "Hollow Man" are proof of that, but there isn't a truly killer tune to be found.

This is an above average album that gets better with each listen. I've heard the stuff here before but the length of the record makes it difficult to hear it in one sitting. This band has potential but considering that this is their fourth album I wonder if it ever will be fulfilled. In the end I can recommend this album to anyone that enjoys Heavy Metal, but if you skip it you won't be missing out on anything.
