Wicked Saint or Righteous Sinner is the second album from this Swedish Heavy Metal band but it is the first time that I've heard of them. From the numerous times I've listened to it, this album has strong Power Metal influences (mainly Edguy) and that sound typical European sound nailed down. As I fully expected, the sound here isn't very original, I've heard the things presented here before. And there is nothing wrong with that, in fact I'll say that Dawn of Silence do these things better than most bands out there.

Right from the first song, I knew what kind of a record it was going to be: fun, catchy with many memorable choruses. Songs like "Escape the Night", "Cage of Fear" and "Chasing a Ghost" will give anyone who loves this type of metal a smile on their face. The musicianship is exactly what you would want from a Swedish metal band, there is nothing outstanding. Everything here feels familiar, from the riffs, the solos, to the rhythm section to the Tobias Sammet-style vocals (which is really spot on by the way).

Although the second half of the album is a bit better, this is in no way a classic album or anything like it. It is consistent enough with a few exceptions but I don't recommend it for everyday listening unless you really love the genre. Having said that, the more I listened to the album the more I liked it, so even if you are not a fan of the style this album is worth a try.
