Rejoice! Welcome back Jorn Lande to Masterplan. Upon the first news of hearing Jorn had returned I was immediately stoked, I thought the debut Masterplan album was fantastic and after the sublime MK II it was obvious the band still had the energy of their debut in them. Three songs on offer here, one of which offered here in a single and album edit. Why must bands insist on having an album version and a single version – how much can 14 seconds really matter? The song in question "Far From The End Of The World" is typical of their debut, boasting great riffs and an unconventional yet quality chorus. It's a pretty good song although I'm sure it will end up one of the weaker tracks on the album. The second song on offer is "Lonely Winds of War" and it's much cooler, keeping to a mid-pace much like "Far From..." but with a far superior chorus and a damn sweet main guitar/orchestral theme. Two very enjoyable tracks although I can only hope they have some fast numbers on the album, I'd hate for this to turn out like one of Jorn's solo albums – it's not Masterplan without a "Spirit Never Die" or "Warrior's Cry". Overall if you can't wait for another dose of Masterplan, get a hold of this. For the more patient out there both of these tracks feature on the album so you can easily forgo this until the main event comes out towards the end of May.
