I'm not familiar with this band's earlier work, and Barbara interviewed them for the site way back in 2003, so I have to assume they were once better than they are now. This is pretty fucking painful to listen to. There's a muddy, very basic and not really good Heavy Metal background to this, tinged with some thrashy moments and lots of core-ish parts. The vocals are spoken and screamed – the kind of shit you expect from "fake angst" mallcore bands, not from a band of old timers like this. The music is just boring for the most part, very repetitive and just following the beat of the vocals which sometimes sound like they're approaching rap territory. Pretty horrible stuff. There are a few good moments here and there where they somehow find a way to do something interesting with the guitars, but it's nothing you haven't heard before, and in such small doses here than it can save the house.

One has to give the band credit for the lyrics – though those could be a turn off for some people. Lots of current affairs and historical stuff such as terrorism, Japanese atrocities in China in the 1930s, etc. They even throw in some spoken passages that sound like documentaries and news reels, with varying results. Whether you like what they have to say or not, one can't deny that they put in more work in the lyrics than many bands – so they get some points for that. But again, without good music and good vocals to deliver the message, this is not enough to save this album. Steer clear of this, unless you're into core-ish stuff and don't mind hearing idiotic screams on top of boring music for a full hour.
