This is a Spanish band playing Gothic Metal in the general vein of bands like Epica. I really have come to think this kind of stuff has become very dated, as the dichotomy between the clean operatic singing and the deathgowls is no longer shocking or even surprising, it's just boring. Either you like the growls better or the singing, and whichever one you like, you will find the other annoying. Singer Laura Espejo has a good, if undistinguished voice (and is there a law or something that all these girls have to have red hair?) and she has some really good melodies to work with, too bad the music backing her up is so unmemorable and she keeps getting interrupted by this barking douche. The band obviously has promise, but they need to tighten up their arrangements and work on more memorable songs. If they can write some better tunes and ditch the growling, they could become a solid band in the Within Temptation/Delain mode. |
