Some punk-ish Death/Thrash here, which I have now renamed Reverb Haven. Seriously, what the fuck is with bands recording a total of a couple of minutes of reverb on their fucking CD? Is that supposed to be, I don't know, fun? Anyway... Thankfully there's some music here, and it's not bad, though it's messy and chaotic as hell, which sometimes is just what you need. The vocals take some time getting used to, pretty much harsh "barked screams" that vary in intensity depending on the song. As for the music, well, Death/Thrash/Crust is what's on the menu, basically marrying Death/Thrash with a disorderly, sloppy punk approach. Listening to this I couldn't help but think that walking in to this in a live venue would sound like an indecipherable wall of noise. It's all over the place and fucked up, with the occasional more disciplined passages where you can actually hear some interesting riffage. A little too messed up for my taste, and the abuse of reverb effects is just fucking annoying, but it still turned out to be an interesting listen. |
