A short and sweet one from Die Hard this time around, Evil Always Return is a reissue of the band's 2008 EP. Raw, heavy, pounding, bloodthirsty Death/Thrash is what's on the menu here. Clean, but harsh throaty vocals spit the hate above it all – takes a little getting used to here and there. This stuff is pretty old school, sounding like 80s raw Thrash but heavier and messier. The closing track "Beneath Pain and Death" even has a "70s meet 80s" kind of occult vibe, just with the heaviness and speed cranked up quite a bit. This may just last a little over 20 minutes, but it takes you from slow and heavy to fast-as-fuck in one hell of a rollercoaster ride. I found this one hard not to play over and over all day, when in the right mood. |
