One thing that often happens is that an album will grow on you, even though the first couple of listens almost made you reach for the stop button. With this one, however, it's more the other way around. Alright on the first listen, the more I listen to it the least I like it. Humangled play Death Metal that's not overly fast or heavy, a bit on the modern side. Some songs are more of the Death/Thrash variety and sound much better, with some catchy riffs that just make you want to reach for that air guitar. But that's not enough to save the album, which is mostly bland and even downright pedestrian at times – whether they try too much or shouldn't bother trying; only time will tell. The vocals are adequate, a throaty growl that's decipherable at times, though they made the mistake of mixing clean and growling vocals on one track, leading to an horrible and insufferable result. There's some potential hidden in here, but they'll need to work on their songs for their next album to be worth a damn. |
