This is another one of those Doom bands that throws in everything, adding more and more to their sound in an effort to create value, without really getting that 'more' is not 'better' in every case. As Light Dies have a sound that is a total mess, mixing heavy riffs, violins, piano, smooth as well as harsh vocals, organ music, narration, sound samples, acoustic guitar...on and on. The problem is that all this stuff should be here for a reason – to serve some songwriting purpose – but it isn't, it's all just there in a desperate attempt to create some excitement and interest. Different sounds come in and rattle around, crashing into each other and creating nothing but a huge mess with no shape or order to it. This isn't unlistenable, but it features no songwriting of any substance or even basic coherence.
