A barrage of blast beats emanates from Nalvage. They have a high octane mindset and play with a good deal of intensity. One is reminded somewhat of Cryptopsy by their sound although there is a certain uniqueness to be found. It's too bad the band is slightly held back by less than stellar production values because there is certainly some talent to be found here. The instrumentation shows promise as the buzzing guitars are played in an imaginative fashion. However, everything doesn't come together as cohesively as one might hope. The drumming keeps good rhythm, but falls slightly out of place with the rest of the instruments at times. The cacophony of sounds created by the outfit at times is sometimes impressive, but not quite as compelling as other technical death metal outfits can be. "Holy Blasphemy Sacrifice" ends the proceedings with an outpouring of riffs that is appropriate as a finale to the album. This is the strongest track that can be found on Worship Dehumanization by a reasonable margin and the band could take this moment on the work as a measuring stick to begin improvement for their next album. Really, the music here is reasonably well done, but the sub-par production prevents the band from really showing their true colors. The blast beats sound mired down in a fog, which prevents them from having the scathing nature they really require. This lessens the impact the band could have in totality. There is an evil atmosphere that adds to the band's overall sound, however. It suits the chaotic nature of their death metal music relatively well. The aura created by the band sometimes picks the music up from reaching lows caused by the lack of focus Nalvage sometimes have. On the whole, Worship Dehumanization has its merit, but is no greater than a good effort at the very best. |
