Shaded Emnity have a name that is startlingly meaningless, and music that is pretty similar. They apparently don't like the 'melodic death metal' tag, as they consider themselves to be something new and different, but yeah, they are Melodic Death Metal. As is usual with this style of music, they have solid instrumentation, some good melodies and hooks, and awful, awful vocals. When they can get their monotone screeching vocalist to shut up, I enjoy this band's work quite well, as they have a good ear for melodies and have a lot of energy. But that vocalist almost never shuts up, hacking relentlessly over the music with all the passion and dynamic of someone yelling the dictionary in your ear. It's not good when you just want to tell the vocalist to shut up so you can hear the music, and that's what I kept thinking when I was spinning this. A promising band with a terrible flaw.
