Normally French Black Metal has a better than usual chance of being cool, but here they have passed over some kind of line. I am rather suspicious of the super-depressive school of BM, as most of it is just an excuse for emo fags who are not good enough to write real Doom music. Wolfshade are depressed, certainly, but the only way their music is depressing is in the fact that anyone would take this seriously. The guitar sound is a spineless waste of time, the compositions are meandering and shapeless, and the vocals are ridiculous; alternating between a falsetto screech that sounds like the guy found a mouse in his shorts, and a French-accented emo mutter that sounds like a francophilic Lou Reed wannabe. Pointless. |
