This is an odd disc. Woe is essentially a project of Xos from Krieg, and this album is a strange mix of straight-ahead Black Metal and sissy post-rock elements. The BM parts are pretty good, though they aren't awesome, and the guitar sound is weak. The post-rock crap is just as shitty as you would expect, and Xos' vocals are screechier than usual and thus quite annoying in places. I won't say this has no artistic merit, but it is not really gripping in any way. |
