Unherz is a Heavy Metal band from Germany that mixes in a bit of hard rock, with a very melodic and somewhat commercial result. The lyrics here are all in German and I can't remember the last time I heard such melodic stuff sung in that language, and it's really weird. The vocal melodies are very catchy and very melodic, that despite the singer's rather throaty and raucous voice. Despite the fact that I don't know what the hell he's singing, I found myself almost singing along and have had a lot of this stuff stuck in my head for several days. The music is heavy enough and kind of raw at times for something so melodic and relatively commercial. They don't really remind me of any other band – nothing that comes to mind anyway – though I wouldn't necessarily stamp this with the "original" tag. Despite the catchiness and all, overall this sounds like it could use a bit of refinement, although a cleaner output would probably dilute this; the slightly raw edge does give more punch to the music. Interesting. |
