Trepanated are a relatively new death/thrash act from Denmark. Although this is billed as death/thrash I hear pure melodic death with a spluttering of 'core influence throughout. For this being their first release the production is top quality, very clear and shiny although it serves as a detriment to their sound and I would have preferred them to dirty things up a little bit. The riffs are really uninspired as far as I'm concerned, and I'll guarantee that even those of you with little knowledge of this niche will have certainly heard all of this before. This is decidedly average and if these guys want to fly they're going to have to think outside the box. "When Ed Comes Around" kicks off the proceedings here, and it is really a case of been there, done that. More of the same on here with "Deprived Humane Abomination", however the title cut kicks off nicely with some decent thrash riffing and it certainly gets my blood pumping although they gum up the works with the groove-laden verses. Overall this demo really left me quite cold, its just so bloody average. I can't see any reason to listen to this when there's a wealth of quality death/thrash acts you could be spending your time with. |
