Filthy, filthy, filthy, is what springs to mind listening to brutal death metal maestros Cerebral Effusion. This is the third opus from these guys, with a five year gap between this and the previous album. As is usually the case when I'm unfamiliar with a band, I always have quick listen to a few tracks from the band's previous output. Judging from what I've heard this is more of the same. albeit with slightly better production.

It's clear that Cerebral Effusion listen to a lot of Cannibal Corpse, and these guys sound like a mix between a professionally produced version of Chris Barnes-era Cannibal Corpse with the technicality of their later material. This has everything a brutal DM fan would want, ratatatata drumming, indecipherable deep growling (it's hard to even call this growling), technically precise playing and of course enough breakdowns to keep you slamming into next week. I'm not the biggest fan of this style but when it's done well I really can't argue. I'd say Cerebral Effusion fall into the category of brutal DM done well. Whilst slightly derivative, the riffs are quality and the plagiarism isn't too bad, I mean you can differentiate these guys from their obvious heroes.

As always the artwork is foul, and this will sit nicely among your collection of gore-drenched death metal albums. If brutal DM is your bread and butter then this is a must have, you're going to be absolutely destroyed by Impulsive Psychopathic Acts. Bust this one out to practice your windmills.
