This is some pretty cool Black Metal from Greece. Nadiwrath could very well be hailing from Norway, Sweden or Finland as their sound is very much rooted in Scandinavian Black Metal. They remind me most of Carpathian Forest with a rather strong "black 'n' roll" vibe at times, which of course makes for some catchy and headbangable material while retaining a good dose of evil filth. Fast-paced numbers share the stage with slower, haunting atmospheric and at times crushingly heavy songs that'll scare the neighbors out of their couch. The vocals are Black Metal screeches of the first order – the vocalist squeals of the hell out of that microphone and varies his style enough to keep things interesting. Like the majority of bands nowadays, Nadiwrath do not really invent anything, but here it's the delivery that counts and Nihilistic Stench sure delivers the goods. If you like a good mix of catchy and hauntingly sick Black Metal, this one is a pretty good bet. |
