I was skeptical of this, but despite a silly name and album title (I'm not at all sure that 'Mechanicality' is an actual word) this band serves up a decent blast of Tech Death. Definitely in the vein of bands like Origin and Decrepit Birth, this is a tight assault of blastbeats, rolls, fills, and dense, aggressive guitars. Diskreet do not have Decrepit Birth's audacious sense of melody, not Origin's seething ferocity, but they do keep things heavy and vicious, avoiding the diddly-deedly sound so many bands of this type fall prey to. The leads are pretty good and often surprisingly hooky, recalling perhaps a less ambitious Vital Remains. Overall this band is doing a good job aping their influences, and while they aren't innovating, they are entertaining. |
