Anything on Pulverised it bound to be worth hearing, and so this is definitely a cut above the totally generic stuff I have been getting lately. Crucifyre are a Death Metal band from Sweden who at least are not mining the very well-stripped Swedish sound. This band adds some excitement by playing their Death Metal with a nice kick of Thrash in the riffs, producing a sound not a million miles from old school stuff like Demolition Hammer. Vocals are a rough style without being gurgly and impossible to make out – very much on a Thrash vibe. Blast beats are employed judiciously and don't take over the music, and there is some real songwriting going on here. This is far from superlative, but it is an entertaining album. |
