This is an EP by new US band on Stormspell, who normally release really good shit. DarkBlack have an immensely retarded name (I mean come on, why not EvilBad, or MetalSteel?) but they play some decent NWOBHM-styled metal. This is very old-school, reminiscent of a hundred bands from the early 80s that most people don't even remember, but the sound is indelible. Good riffs are somewhat hampered by a weak guitar sound, but the tube-amp style is very much a feature of the period they are imitating. This is not awesome, but there are some cool songs and it will get your head banging nicely. A band to watch. |
