This is some raw, hateful Black Metal from Poland, that land of hugs and puppies. Eastern Europe seems to produce the most bitter and spite-filled BM, and NSBM is the bitterest of all of it. This is a one-man act, and so the instrumentation is pretty basic and the drums are programmed, but the riffage is actually pretty awesome in places. The recording is thick and powerful, with real bite to the guitar sound, and the guitar work in general is pretty sharp for this kind of thing. Vocals are thankfully not a screech, but they are a bit one-note and don't add anything to this. What I like is that this guy has a real sense of composition, and the songs do a lot more than just repeat, they actually develop and go somewhere. Raw and vicious, but not minimalist by a long shot. |
