Debut album from Israeli thrashers Strident, and from the first track I wasn't really expecting anything good but as the record pushes on I found my head nodding a little more. They have a good no-bullshit go-for-the-throat approach (besides the opening track and some ridiculous song titles, "Sex Toy"!?) which is cool, and the vocals sound genuinely pissed off. A good guitar tone, with the bass just right in the mix, decent drum work with some good rolls and hell, even a few pretty good guitar solos. Strident are bursting with youthful energy, and it really shows in On the Aim. Of course a lot of bands are mining this particular vein, and without a label behind them Strident are probably destined for obscurity. However I would say they were worth checking out, and if they can hone in their skills I'd imagine they could release a fairly good album. Worth a look if thrash metal is your game.
