I had read some bad reviews of this, but I found it pretty fucking crushing. Preludium are a Death Metal band from Poland, and while this is not in any way original or anything you have not heard before, it smashes your face in with surprising energy and verve. This is blasty, and heavy, and has a lot of very tight arrangements, becoming almost technical in places, but it also has these slower, dirge-like parts that break up the intensity with some melody. I don't know, this is pretty derivative, but it lays down the law of Death Metal with brutal energy and not a shred of trendiness anywhere. For stripped-down brutal crushing somewhere between Behemoth, Entombed, and Bolt Thrower, this album is not to be missed. |
