Lyriel are a female-fronted German folk metal band, however they fall a little more on the tamer side of the metal spectrum leaning towards almost folk rock at times. The band is vocally driven and the music really revolves around the vocals, which really isn't bad at all. Jessica Thierjun has a nice voice with a pleasing tone and her projection and delivery has a nice medieval feel to it. I guess pleasing could describe Paranoid Circus on the whole, this is nice and warm on the ears, and fans of female-fronted metal acts will likely find something to enjoy. Nothing overtly offensive here, although for my palate isn't heavy enough. |
