This band's acronymic name stands for "Wisdom through Agony into Illumination and Lunacy" – so yeah, they are a tiny bit pretentious. This has aspirations to being some kind of Black Metal, but really this is rather mellow Doom/Death, and despite the ambitious nature of the recording, it isn't all that interesting. Slow, moody compositions that go on for 10+ minutes, but never really seem to go anywhere dog this disc, and while the riffs are not standard, the experimentation doesn't produce much that is compelling either. I don't dislike this, and it has some good parts, but overall not very exciting. |
