Morbid Blood is the second album from Greek black metallers Ravencult. Their brand of black metal is spliced with thrash metal and some ideals from the first wave of black metal. Throughout Morbid Blood Ravencult assault all the senses, very rarely letting up the pace, it seems the band had one goal in mind: the face of their listener torn and ripped apart. They do a pretty damn good job in succeeding in that goal too, for there isn't a minute wasted on Morbid Blood. This is pure aggression, and the riffs are quality if unoriginal. The band rip out a few speed metal/proto-thrash style riffs throughout the album which are really fucking cool and certainly stick in mind after listening. The vocals are a good rasp, and the band are happy to thrash away. This is nothing you haven't heard before, and this is hardly the best the style has to offer. However this is fun and energetic, ripping black/thrash metal that fans of the style will no doubt enjoy. Recommended. |
