Behind the amazingly stupid band name (when I saw it, my first thought was "something -core") hides some pretty cool Heavy/Power Metal. Love.Might.Kill do a great job of mixing semi-commercial 80s Heavy Metal with modern Power Metal. The melodies have a lot in common with 80s Heavy Metal/Hard Rock, the kind that's heavy enough to please metal fans while still drawing some love from fans of heavy Hard Rock. Throw in a hint of early Hammerfall for a more modern edge, and you've got a winning combination. Even the singer reminds me a bit of Joacim Cans at times, but much better (less nasal, for one thing.) The Return of the Storm is very melodic and up-beat which makes it kind of a "feel good" album – it has a positive vibe that can up your spirits on your bad day, and enough heavy shredding guitars to keep your inner metalhead's integrity at peace. :) Basically a fun album that'll keep old and new school fans begging for more. |
