I first thought this was a new album, but no, it's just a teasing little EP, albeit one that destroys more in its short time span than many full-length albums. There really is no surprise here – if you like Marduk, you'll most likely like this, otherwise this won't win you as a new fan. Blasting Black Metal opens this up, with the ferocity Marduk have been known for – it's fast, heavy and face-ripping. That's the first two tracks, while the last one is at the other end of the spectrum – it's agonizingly slow and kind of monotonous, but in a good way. Heaviness and atmosphere lead the charge here, instead of a barrage of guitars and drums. Iron Dawn is a cool little EP while we wait for the next album... |
