This is some pretty cool Speed/Thrash from Sweden – fast, heavy and unrelenting, and with a decent production job to boot. Tyranex rarely ever slow down on this one and when they do you'll miss it if you blink. This reminds me a little bit of some of the earlier, faster Agent Steel. Fast razor-sharp guitars, high-pitched vocals, and powerful drumming that makes the speakers move around. The band mix a bit of the old and the new here: Extermination Has Begun has that old school vibe but not to the point where I'd say "this could have been released in the 80s." My main problem with the album is the high-pitched vocals which rarely ever tone down, and sometimes flirt with glass-shattering territory. This works in places, but half the time (well, roughly...) they really, really sound out of place when not downright annoying. I'm surprised the singer still has her vocal chords intact. If you can get past that though, this is overall a pretty good album. |
