More old school Thrash from Endless Brutality of Men, this time by way of Portugal's Prayers of Sanity. Their debut, Religious Blindness, is an amalgam of Kreator, Destruction and other German Thrash bands with some early Metallica and Overkill thrown in. As you might surmise there is nothing new in what they are doing, but that is probably the point. Singer Tião, who also handles lead guitar, has a gruff voice that is not quite a growl and he has a pretty decent scream as well. The music is almost all played at hyper speed, but they do slow down on tracks like "Shards of Evil." Another winner for EBM, though as with all their releases, there's nothing you haven't heard before. Prayers of Sanity play quality Thrash and fans of the old school should definitely check them out. |
