I hate it when this happens. I got all excited when I saw a Nile promo land in my inbox. Then I realized it was older, "lost" stuff. Slightly less excited (I was never much of a fan of In the Beginning, although it's much better than this), but hey, this could still be good, right? Then I started listening to it. The first thing that really hit me are the clean vocals that remind me of a bunch of bands that annoyed me back in the 90s and at least the early 2000s, stop-and-go bland vocals type of stuff, and the music follows that same beat, groovy second-rate watered-down Death/Thrash. This is like a hybrid between actual metal and the junk we had to endure for years, and for the most part doesn't sound much like Nile – at least not the Nile I discovered back in 2000. This is slow to mid-paced stuff and calling most of it Death/Thrash is a bit of a stretch. Bottom line, I think I'll just forget I ever heard this and wait for the next real album. There's a market for this stuff though, but check out a few samples before you buy...
